In this paper, the hydraulic system of top drive is designed and simulated. The main role of the system are assisting the top drive to make contention, braking the spindle of motor, plugging oil circuit and taking the weight of top drive. The following work has been completed:(1) The hydraulic system control circuit diagram of top drive is designed according to job requirements. The size of the piston cylinder and the displacement of hydraulic motor are calculated based on the force and speed requirements. The hydraulic pump, motor, accumulator, lap values and other related accessories are designed and selected. The program of PLC control system is designed. based on the calculation and selection.(2) According to the structure and working principle of swash—plate axial piston pump used in top drive, the mathematics model of swash—plate axial piston pump is established, the mathematics kinematics model of a piston is derived, the AMESim models of the main parts and the whole pump are set up. After parameters setting and models simulating base on AMESim model, the preload of pressure regulating valve is considered to be the main factor that impact outlet pressure. the preload of pressure regulating valve is determined for hydraulic system of top drive.(3) According to the design of hydraulic system, the AMESim simulation model is established. After simulated the whole work condition according to job requirements, action data of the seven movements are obtained.The above research not only provide a guiding to the design of hydraulic system of the top drive, but also establish a foundation for the digital manufacturing of top drive.
