Sheet metal nesting and cutting optimization technology is used extensively at manufacturing feild such as Construction Machinery,Shipping and so on.Improving the utilization of sheet will inevitably reduce enterprise production cost and bring significant economic benefits to the enterprise. Laser cutting is becoming more and more popular because of its high precise and cheap price.Therefore, the study of laser cutting for sheet metal cutting optimization is quite necessary.In this thesis,sheet metal laser cutting process optimization problem is proposed as the research objective.Sheet metal nesting optimization and laser cutting process optimization are the two mainly aspects of this objective.The smallest rectangular envelope algorithm and the true shape nesting algorithm are proposed for solving the sheet metal nesting optimization problem.The smallest rectangular envelope algorithm means to find out the smallest envelope which can strike the polygon.In this paper, in order to raise the nesting rate,regular method is used first to obtain some results and then go into further optimization so that the parts with holds can be filled as the second nesting.The true shape nesting algorithm is using the rotating polygon to ensure the position and calculate the maximum rate of the envelope when it is at a fixed angle of rotation and at the vertices of thepolygon. Finally, experiments are carried out to find out the effectiveness of the two methods.The "one cut" common line cutting algorithm based on Euler graph theory and The "stepped"common line cutting algorithm based on rectangular array are proposed for solving laser cutting process optimization problem.The results of the two methods are compared with those of regular methods.The results show that the two methods can greatly optimize the results in laser drilling and air travel. The method of continuous cutting in the waste area to decrease the number of drilling points and the threament method on angular position when cutting are also studied in this paper in order ot aid to achieve better results.Finally, sheet metal nesting optimization theory and laser cutting process optimization theory are used for developing the sheet metal laser cutting optimization system.Experiments are combined to certificate the effectiveness of the system.
