With 30 years development, making intelligent machine with higher pressure, higher precision has become the aim for all researchers in high pressure waterjet field. Flow Corp. offered a waterjet system whose pressure is as high as 630MPa. OMAX's extra high precision system can make very accurate parts. Now, intelligent controlling technology has been used extensively on abrasive waterjet systems. Without a doubt, developing waterjet system with higher precision and intelligence is the aim for future. To improve cutting precision and intelligence, predicting jetlag and taper accurately is very important. Based on the above goal, a series of experiments have been carried out. And the influence of several parameters on kerf character, which includes water pressure, abrasive flowrate, target material thickness and cutting speed, have been investigated systematically. And the testing samples have been measured accurately. These experimental results provide reliable basis in choosing actual process parameters, and offer detailed data for building accurate cutting compensation model.
