Cholesteric liquid crystal has unique optical properties, rotary effects, bragg reflection and so on; After surface treatment or by adding polymer, cholesteric liquid crystals can be used for reflective bistable liquid crystal display. In today's fast-growing liquid crystal device, liquid crystal display has entered the " Advanced era of the LCD ". Light and energy conservation became research focus.In this paper, we first study the relationship between the plane state, focal conic state of cholesteric liquid crystal and the homeotropic phase. We also analyzing the characteristics of each state and prepared samples for experimental study.Second, the paper in-depth researches the principle of the bistable of cholesteric liquid crystal and experiment on this basis. Mapping out the transmission spectrum of visible light and infrared light transmission spectrum of the cholesteric liquid crystal using spectrometer, we have pictures of this film's of CCD. Photographed the samples prepared in the experiment, we give its practical value.Then the paper has studied the electro-optical properties of polymer dispersed liquid crystals and its applications in our life. Cholesteric liquid crystal is used as the basic raw materials in our experiment, and prepare polymer dispersed cholesteric liquid crystal film with UV-curing, In our preparation progress, we add as little as possible polymers and chiral agent to obtain low polymer content and longer pitch of polymer dispersed cholesteric liquid crystal. The sample we prepared has a higher transmittance and we take the pictures compared with the reality object. we also take photos using polarized light microscopy.Finally, the paper takes a brief introduction about the applications of dual LC, and studies the concept of the triple stable-state in polymer dispersed chiral dual LC and yet puts forward the idea of a new intelligent energy-saving windows. Its function principle is: the transform of three states of polymer dispersed chiral dual LC . The liquid crystal droplets in polymer dispersed liquid crystal films we prepared are larger, forming three textures as follows: three-dimensional small focal conic state domain, two-dimensional focal conic state of a large domain and a large flat state stability of zero field domain structure. Through the polymer dispersed liquid crystal film's reflection and transmission of infrared light, it can achieve the effect of regulating indoor temperature. During the summer, it can reduce the indoor temperature by adjusting the liquid crystal film for reflection of infrared light,. During the winter, it can raise the indoor temperature by adjusting the liquid crystal films for transmission of infrared light,.
