The kevlar fiber reinforced plastic compound material(KFRP)by its excellent performance is widely used in aerospace, military and other fields. But the application on the ship is not very extensive, and there are few corrosion research and published on its marine environment and the friction properties. Therefore KFRP corrosion in simulated sea water, friction properties and life prediction become a very important subject.In this paper, on the basis of sorting and analyzing domestic and foreign corrosion test methods, corrosion mechanism and the wear mechanism of resin matrix composite materials in marine environment. Choosed salinity and temperature as the main factors of corrosion tests. Designed high temperature wet-dry accelerated corrosion tests. moisture absorption rate of two formulations of KFRP was measured by weighing method at different temperatures (20℃, 70℃, 100℃) under different salinities (0%, 3.5%, 5%) of the salt solution. Analyzed the thermal properties of the KFRP before and after corrosion by DTA. FTIR and GC-MS of corrosion solution were used to determine the change of the polymer groups before and after the corrosion. By compareing tensile strength ,flexural strength, hardness to analyze the mechanical properties attenuation before and after corrosion, according to friction and wear testing to analyze the impact of corrosion to analyze to wear resistance of materials. The worn surface morhologies and the microstructure of the composite were examined by scanning electron microsphy(SEM) established the equation of thermal life prediction based on the theory of Arrhenius.determined and the correlation between the normal temperature test and accelerated test.The results show that the optimum wear resistance property was obtained at the MoS2 content of 3.5% by comparing friction properties and impermeability of different filler content composite. And by comparing the moisture absorption of different temperatures and salinity found that the moisture absorption behavior of materials moisture absorption reach saturation at a certain time with the time, as the salinity of the medium increased, the relative moisture absorption rate has dropped, severely damaged the surface morphology could be examined. DTA curve of KFRP after experience immersion test showed Tg decreased, which matched the trend of moisture absorption rate increases. The results of FTIR and GC-MS offered further evidence that the material occurred hydrolysis in the Saline. With the dissolution of small organic molecules, which is the cause of decline in moisture absorption rate later in the high-temperature dry-wet cycles. The materials suffered corrosion, this degraded the mechanical properties, we can see the matrix and fiber debonding by examing the fracture surface of SEM.By analyzing the surface morphology of friction and wear test, The results show a decrease in friction coefficient, while the wear losses increased. However the incorporation of MoS2 filler contributed to improve the friction and wear behavior considerably. However corrosion holes appeared on the surface, which increased the friction damage.
