Furfural is An important Green Platform Chemical and widely used in many fields such as petroleum refining, petrochemical industry, pharmaceuticals industry, food industry, synthetic rubber and synthetic resin.Three new technology of preparation furfural from processing surplus of poplar-wood by chemical hydrolysis were studied in this paper. The first is hydrochloric acid as catalyst, the use of atmospheric pressure low-temperature acid catalyst method to preparation of furfural. The studies are mainly on the influence of the furfural yield by these factors, such as different the raw material, different the catalyst, the amount, the reaction temperature and reaction time. The results showed that the optimal conditions for preparation of furfural from the above raw materials were 200g raw material added in the reactor, the reaction temperature of 140~160℃, reaction time 6 h, sulfuric acid concentration of 8% of the amount of 600 ml, sodium chloride for 140 g, ferric chloride 10 g. the yield of furfural from two raw materials are 4.51% and 5.24%. The second is acetic acid/phosphoric acids system is studied. The optimal conditions are obtained as follows:the volume ratio of acetic acid, phosphoric acid, and water is 3:8:100, with liquid/solid ratio of 10,3 hours of hydrolysis time and 160℃of the temperature. Under above conditions the yield of furfural can be higher than 7.6%. the results showed that the poplar wood-saw dust has a high yield of furfural comparing with the agricultural crops except corncob. On the other hand, comparing with the general hydrolysis technology, this new technology increased the yield of furfural whilst reduced the acid corrosion of equipment and the consumption of steam vapour, furthermore, the waste liquor and the residues of furfuralis easy to comprehensive use. The third,Compared with one-step process, two-step process is characterized by many merits such as no significant change in fiber morphology after the extraction of xylose, comprehensive utilization of raw materials and higher yield. The third,Compared with one-step process, two-step process has many merits.such as, fiber morphology is not significant change after the extraction of xylose, raw materials is used of comprehensive utilization.and furfural yield is higher than other. the first step, pentose from poplar wood by hydrolysis in the volume ratio of acetic acid, phosphoric acid, and water is 3:8:100, more than 78% xylose yield.the second step process, xylose extract under high-pressure dehydration for 1.5h at 140℃, the furfural yield is more than 6.6%. In all, Poplar is a kind of natural biomass resource, to utilize natural resources more effectively and provide more material source of furfural preparation, it well worth studying of taking advantage of the surplus of poplar-wood preparing furfural.
