Layered double hydroxides (LDH) is also known as hydrotalcite-like compounds (HTlcs), which is have attracted increasing interest because of their unique structure and potential applications in areas such as catalysis and medicine. To date, many methods have been developed in the preparation of LDH particles, such as coprecipitation, reconstruction, hydrothermal etc. Most of the methods are based on the solution reactions. Although these solids are easily synthesized by these methods, easy operation, inexpensive and solvent free synthesis procedures are still needed in order to control some of the properties, such as crystallinity, and particle-size distribution. In this paper, a series of Layered Double Hydroxides were synthesized by the mechanochemical approach. We chose MTX as the guest molecule and LDH as the host material to synthesize MTX/LDH nanocompounds via methods of coprecipitation and hydrothermal. The article introduces the study of new methods and the improvement of traditional method. The mechanochemical approach was used to obtain different LDH compounds, which had the rules of morphology and the well crystalline. We have researched the effect of different synthesis conditions on particles morphology and single dispersion of LDH, and explored the crucial factor of LDH particle properties(proper grinding time, higher Zeta potential and crystal water in inorganic salt) to speculate out its reaction mechanism. The method of mechanochemistry which is newly discovered has still greater potential for us to explore. The Methotrexatum(MTX) was intercalated into the layered double hydroxides (LDH) to form the MTX/LDH nanocompounds, by the coprecipitation method in the alcohol-water mixed solvent (alcohol-water co-precipitation for short) and NaOH as precipitator. MTX anions were intercalated into the LDH sheets as a delined monolayer and the declined angles changed with the variation of the volume ratio of ethanol to water. Our results showed that the particles are the smallest and uniform without agglomeration. The particles of the products obtained by alcohol-water co-precipitation are of smaller size, narrower size distributions and less gaaregation than those obtained from the particles synthesized by coprecipitation.Hydrothermal method was a novel method and used to obtain MTX/LDH compounds, the influence of reaction condition were systematically studied.
