This paper synthetically analyze mechanical characteristics of surrounding rocks and it's effect to permeability of coal seam by means of numerical simulation, field measurement and theoretical analysis. The research reveals some perspectives, an stress shell composed of high stress bundles exists in the surrounding rock of inclined longwall working face; Breakage zones mainly exist in the low stress area protected by stress shell; With asymmetric mining distribution, mechanical characteristics of surrounding rocks vary with being affected by coal mining, which causes that stress concentration and breakage zones width of surrounding rocks waken from tailentry side to headentry side; The root reason for evolution of coal seam permeability is coal mining; Permeability of coal seam remain stable in the area where stress keep in a state of nature while obviously vary in the area affected by abutment pressure; The low-stress area under the stress shell, where serious breakage appear in, is an important area for gas drainage since the permeability of the surrounding rock observably increased; In front of the working face, the coal seam is good in permeability at a distance owing to having abundant fissures; Thereby the pumping and drainage system not only should be maintained but also managed extraordinarily in order to make full use of it's efficiency in this area.Figure [59] table [5] reference [56]...
