Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq has been a traditional Chinese medicine, which was collected by Chinese Pharmacopoeia. It has a long history and significant efficacy. This herbal medicine contains several active components including essential oils, flavonoids, monoterpenoids, cinnamic acid and ursolic acid, which has analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-virus and other pharmacological effects. The thesis mainly focused on the following aspects.Determining total flavonoids from Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq by spectrophotometry was studied on. Results showed that NaNO2-Al(NO3)3-NaOH Colorimetry was an excellent effect on the determination of total flavonoids from Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq. The ultrasonic extraction process of total flavonoids from Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq was researched. Based on single experiments, ethanol concentration, extraction time, extraction temperature and ratio of liquid to solid were selected for Box-Behnken central composite design. RSM was employed to study the effect of these factors on the yield of total flavonoids. The results indicated that the optimal process conditions were ethanol concentration 56.2%, extraction time 45.3 min, ultrasonic power 480 W, extraction temperature 60℃and ratio of liquid to solid 27.9 mL/g. Under these optimized conditions, the extraction yield of total flavonoids was up to 2.02%.Solvent free microwave extraction (SFME) was emploied to extract essential oil from Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq. Response surface methodology was applied to predict optimum conditions for solvent free microwave extraction of essential oil from Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briq. The results indicated that the optimal process conditions were soaking time 77 min, extraction time 57 min, and microwave power 450 W. Under these optimized conditions, the extraction yield of essential oil was up to 0.206%.Compared with the traditional techniques, solvent free microwave extraction offered important advantages over traditional hydro-distillation. namely water and solvent free process, shorter extraction time; lower production of by-products, lower cost, environmentally friendly.
