Rare earth luminescence materials have outstanding luminescent properties and wide potential application due to the special electronic shell structures of rare earth ions. Fluorides become excellent host materials for luminescence materials owing to their diversity structural features, special physical and chemical characteristics. The properties of rare earth luminescent nanomaterials largely depend on their structure, morphology and size. Therefore, the synthesis of luminescent nanomaterials with controlled morphology and size has also aroused a lot of concern for the scientists. Amino acids can be used as templates to prepare nanomaterials with various shapes for their special functional group and self-assembling functions. In this thesis, YF3:Eu3+, GdF3:Eu3+ and LaF3:Eu3+ luminescence nano-materials with different morphologies were synthesized with a different amino acid surfactant-assisted hydro-thermal method, the structure and properties were characterized.DL-asparagine, alanine and glutamic acid as surfactant, YF3:Eu3+ nanomaterial with shuttle-shaped rodlike structure composed by nano bundles, YF3:Eu3+ nanomaterial with rodlike structure composed by oval nanospheres, YF3:Eu3+ nanomaterial with shuttle-shaped rodlike structure composed by granular nanocrystalline were synthesized by hydrothermal method process respectively.Asparagine, alanine and glutamic acid as surfactant, GdF3:Eu3+ nanomaterial of disc-shape with a hole in the middle composed by nanoparticles, GdF3:Eu3+ nanomaterial with disc-shape composed by nanosheet of various sizes and GdF3:Eu3+ nanomaterial with porous flower-like shape composed by small nanocrystalline were synthesized by hydrothermal process respectively. The test results indicated, product with amino acid of different structure exist have the same structure but different morphology, and their luminescent properties had some differences.
