| Red Tide can greatly harm the marine ecosystem, so it is very important to identify and monitor the species of the HABs (Harmful Algae Blooms). The optical methods have widely used in this area, the methods based on absorption spectra of phytoplankton is one of the important optical methods, which has a good potential in detecting species of harmful algae blooms. In this study, the classification method for species of HABs based on absorption spectra was proposed. Firstly, the absorption spectra of 38 species taken from single species cultures, representing 7 divisions (Dinophyta, Bacillariophyta, Haptophyta, Chlorophyta, Raphidophyceae, cyanobacteria and Cryptophyta ) were measured. Then, the 1D wavelet analysis was applied to the measured absorption spectra to extract the characteristic spectrum. Based on the characteristics of the absorption spectra, the finger printers of absorption spectra for classification of species of HABS were obtained. The classification method was developed based on the finger printers of different species, and the corresponding software was also developed at the same time. The primary validation shows that the methods can be used to classify the species of HABS at the level of division with high discrimination rate. |
