With the cooperated development of computer technology and NC technology, a large number of CAD/CAM software, which is dedicated or general, flood the market. Currently, CAD/CAM technology has been an important indicator which measures a country's level of industrialization or even the overall national strength. Facing the situation that domestic production market is always monopolized by foreign CAD/CAM software, and after more than a decade domestic development, it has achieved some certain results. At present, the core technology of three-dimensional CAD/CAM software still lies in the hand of Europe, America, Japan and other developed countries. For new software, to grow in the crack of the traditional powerful software, firstly, we need develop core technologies and broke the blockade of foreign technologies; then, software need a growth process, from dedicated to universal.According to an enterprise's need of CAM, this manufactures tire molds, in TSINGTAO. It made SINOVATION(referred to as SV),which is an emerging domestic CAD/CAM software, as the platform, and Combined with an international science and technology cooperation project, which is called "The introduction, research and application of the high-end CAD/CAM system's core technologies". Firstly, algorithms of the NC processing of patterns on Sidewall which based on the Special machine are focused on, including algorithms of path planning on the plane, algorithms of projecting to surface, and post-processing algorithms; Secondly, all algorithms are developed, tested, and integrated into the section of CAM in SV; Finally, the system is used in the practical production by the enterprise, which validates that algorithms are applied, stability and efficiency. A series of targeted algorithms are studied, according to different needs. Such as, the sorting algorithm of lines is used for the question that the structure of imported character is lost; Algorithms of inner and outer contours'distinguishing and problems of processing domains'identification are used to the surface processing; According to different styles of line on contours, some algorithms of lines'segmentation are developed; In order to reduce the distortion of patterns after the projection, two ways of projection are selected, respectively. And the Strategy of Error Handling is proposed to reduce the depth error and meet the processing requirements.The research, development and application of algorithms is in accordance with the CNC machining process, strictly. In the research process, in order to meet the special needs of manufacturer's CNC machining, a software company, in SHANDONG, is combined to develop the module of type-setting, develop and test the algorithms.
