With the rapid development of urbanization and the increasing population, the amount of municipal solid waste is increasing. It will bring many difficulties to urban development and management, also be a serious threat to human survival and health. In the process of landfill, it will produce a kind of liquid with high concentration of hazardous materials. Once the leachate into the environment, it can cause serious environmental pollution. Therefore, landfill leachate treatment attentioned by more and more people. COD and ammonia nitrogen content are two important indicators to measure the treatment effect. Clay is a kind of aqueous aluminum silicate and distributed widely in nature, variety and abundant reserves, is a valuable natural resource. In recent years, many experts are committed to various modified clays in landfill leachate treatment, and its prospects are very bright. In this paper, we choose Chengdu Chang'an landfill leachate as the research object, discussed the removal efficiency of COD and ammonia nitrogen and effecting factors by using Chengdu clay. This study provides a useful basic for the data, the research has important significance. Through the static adsorption test and research in laboratory, we get the following conclusions:1. Factors affecting the adsorption effects are: clay dosage, solution pH, stirring rate, stirring time and standing time.2. The experiment results showed that the optimum conditions of COD removal are: soil volume using 85g/L, pH=6.0, stirring rate 150r/min, stirring time 40min, standing time 20h, under this conditions, the removal rate of COD in landfill leachate can reach 31.84%. 3.The optimum conditions of ammonia nitrogen removal are: soil volume using 65g/L, pH=8.0, stirring rate 130r/min, stirring time 40min, standing time 24h, under this conditions, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen can reach 22.46%.
