Glass-ceramics has a history of more than half a century, many kinds of new technology, new skills, and new products emerging continuously. The application of it is also expanding unceasingly. Study of glass-ceramics is becoming more and more popular while the research of rare earth doped glass-ceramics is of great import ants.This article presented the preparation of glass-ceramic doped with different concentration of erbium and ytterbium by melting-crystallization method. According to the result of the DTA test, the crystallization heat-treated schedules was founded. Based on the X-ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis, optical transmittances analysis, scanning electron microscope test, emissions and excitations spectra we get the conclusion that the main phase is AI4B2O9, the gain size is 20-300nm,and the grains were distributed evenly in the system.Exercised by a 980nm semiconductor laser, the fluorescence spectra of the glass-ceramic was obtained. The results proved that the erbium and ytterbium doped glass-ceramic system has a far better optical character than the glass system, and the light-emitting glass-ceramic with the emission peak at about 1536nm was successfully prepared.
