In the context of continued warming and deteriorating of the global climate, carbon dioxide reduction has become an extremely urgent task. Geological storage is one of the most important and effective means to climate mitigation. In China, however, the studies of the other forms of geological storage of carbon dioxide are still in its infancy except that the large-scale site-test of geological storage of carbon in the reservoir which has started, especially the geological storage of carbon dioxide in deep saline layer. The Special Report on Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage (2005) released by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, in particular, discussed the contribution of CCS to the results of the IPCC Third Assessment Report mitigation scenarios (IPCC,2001). According to the Special Report, the geological storage of carbon dioxide in deep saline is the most potential one. Many countries, especially Europe and the United States, have launched active researches on sequestrating carbon dioxide in deep saline layer and some counties have started the site test. Site test of CCS has high costs, long test term and lots of technological difficulties. By contrast, physical simulation can be carried out much easier and can get results in short term with lower costs. In particular, large-scale three-dimensional model simulation can simulate the real situation well in the premise of using appropriate methods and can provide the fundamental supports to large scale experiments on site.Based on the theories of similar approach and supported by the research of cooperation project on prediction and control of long-term stability of CO2underground sequestration between China and United States, the thesis focuses on discussing how to carry out an appropriate physical simulation of geological storage of carbon dioxide in deep saline aquifer and deal with the relevant problems. Through the physical simulation of deep geological store carbon dioxide plane model experiment device, the simulation to anoint rock as a cover of carbon dioxide deep layer of rock salt water storage process, analysis is injected into carbon dioxide in sandstone layer in the process of water cut of migration rule, and the three dimensional experimental platform to make preliminary design scheme and prospected.
