Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) modulation is an important technique in satellite navigation system in the future, Modernized GPS, Galileo and CAMPASS have decided to implement the BOC modulation technique currently. And the synchronization of the signal affects the performance of the satellite signal receiver a lot, so the research to the BOC signal synchronization system is very significant.This paper first introduces the principle of the BOC modulation, focuses on the time domain performance, power spectral density and autocorrelation function of it. Then the BOC(1, 1) signal is simulated by MATLAB and characteristics of it are verified. After that, the synchronization techniques of satellite signal receiver is introduced by this dissertation. The synchronization techniques, which include signal acquisition and signal tracking, is to get the accurate estimation of Doppler frequency and PRN code delay of the satellite signal. Signal acquisition process is a coarse estimation of the two parameters mentioned above, and signal tracking is a process of getting the accurate estimation of them. Common methods of acquisition are discussed and simulation results of BOC(1, 1) acquisition by MATLAB are performed in the research of signal acquisition. Then, many kinds of tracking techniques are analyzed and compared with each other in the research of signal tracking. Ambiguity is an important factor which affects the synchronization accuracy, a new correlation function is proposed in this paper to avoid the impact of ambiguity of BOC signal.In the end, the essential modules for BOC signal synchronization are implemented on FPGA board by using Xilinx ISE, which include the signal generation module, the carrier tracking module and the code tracking module based on the previous theoretical analysis and simulation results. The results of simulation and design are presented after it.
