In hydraulic engineering, landslides offen happen on the reservoir shore. The surge sparked by landslides has the potential to cause large geological disasters to water conservancy facilities, port and waterway engineering, and life and property of nearby people. Large landslides can generate large surge. The surge may not only cause immediate hazards to all of the waters where surge can reach at any time, more importantly, as spreading and superimposing, the surge may cause reservoir crash accident for dam failure, and dike breach and so on, and average accident for channel block, and ship capsizing and so on. Therefore, it is of important theoretical and practical value to study the characteristics of the surge.Combinning with the Chongqing key scientific and technological project of study on the characteristics and impact on channel of the surge happening in mountain river-type reservoir, basing on ascertaining the reason for landslides happening in reservoir and the influencing factors of the size of the surge , and choosing a typical mountain river reservoir of the Three Gorges as the relied engineering to carry on the experiment of sink generalized model, influences on the characteristics of surge caused by the three fators including the landslide slope, effective contact area between solid and flow, and rich depth are studied in this paper in the basis of principles of energy exchange between solid and flow. The main contents include the characteristics of three elements of the original wave, wave form, and wave steepness, the comparison on the wave height and wave period between the original wave and synthesis wave, which can be used as a preliminary identification to judge which is the main role causing the surge disasters, the calculation of the relative initial surge, the relationship between progressive wave height and initial wave height, and the calculation of the coefficient of energy exchange and progressive attenuation of wave height. In the process of the derivation of each formula, calculated values and measured values have been carried on error analysis in this paper, and the reliability of each formula has also been proved. Results of this paper can not only be applied directly to port, waterway engineering and navigation safety management in the Three Gorges, Wujiang Pengshui, Yingpan and Baima reservoir and so on, but also can be extended to other mountainous river reservoirs affected by the landslide.
