After more than 20 years of high speed development, GDP of China now ranked 4th in the world if valued in Market Exchange Rates. However, in parallel to economic growth, a fierce conflict of oil resources has now surfaced. Oil security not only bears important economical signification influencing China's macro-economical status, but also possesses serious political purport by affecting China's national security status and its social stability.At present time, introducing foreign direct investment and multinational management in this field as a reliable, feasible strategy to guarantee China's oil security is the most appropriate choice available. It's also one of the de facto basic policies of Chinese government to heartily promote overseas oil investment.This paper theoretically analyzes some of the most representational international oil firms as cases, imposing econometrical modules upon them. By analyzing these modules, this paper can prove the relevant gravity of various important factors and strategies in the FDI of world oil market, so to provide fundamental groundwork in constructing four "Multinational Oil Investment Strategy Group",a new concept this paper would like to introduce. All typical multinational oil companies could be classified into these four new groups, whose key characteristics and core FDI strategies and even relative weaknesses are consequently revealed clearly. This paper at last provide 5 key suggestion for Chinese multinational oil firms, hoping it would help Chinese oil firm to reduce its blindness in their FDI, so to decrease the probability of investment failure. On the other hand, this paper would try to help the government to improve China's investing environment, thus to attract more international oil enterprises to invest in China.
