The Securities Of The Insurance Industry In China On The Prevention Of Money - Laundering And Monitoring

With the extend of realm of money laundering from traditional banking industry to securities and insurance industries, preventing and combating money laundering in these two industries become an important issue of anti-money laundering in financial institutions. The ultimate object of the thesis is to discuss the prevention and supervision of the money laundering in both securities and insurance industries.There are five sectors in the thesis: First, it gives a general introduction of money laundering in securities and insurance industries and indicates the necessity of the anti-money laundering in the two industries. Second, the thesis gives a detailed explanation of money laundering crimes and analyses the money laundering risks existing in securities and insurance sectors. Third, the thesis points out the current main problems and difficulties of initiating anti-money laundering in the securities and insurance industries. The thesis makes its conclusion in the last two parts. By elaborating the money laundering instructions and principles issued by IOSCO and IAIS, the thesis suggests that China should learn from the international experiences. More specifically, China should use the international system standards for reference, including customer due diligence and suspicious transactions reporting, when establishing China's anti-money laundering regulations in securities and insurance sectors. It should also take China's specific situation into account when proceeding anti-money laundering in the two sectors.The thesis was written in a special period of time, when Anti-Money Laundering Law has been put into effect and anti-money laundering regulations in related sectors have yet to be drafted. Besides, the number of studies on this field in China is quite limited. Therefore, the thesis focuses on the regulations and policy proposals of related international organizations, both of which are strongly pertinent.
