Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) systems are designed to address the problems of fragmentation of information in business organizations and realize systematized business administration. The success implementation of ERP is an effective method to increase efficiency of enterprise management, however, the success rate has been low both in China and western countries. It's a complex systems engineering project to implement ERP system. The root cause that makes the success rate low is the dynamic complexity in ERP implementation, meanwhile, the traditional methods and tools in project management are not effective ways to control the dynamic complexity of project. The purpose of this paper is to introduce System Dynamics/Systems Thinking(SD/ST) theory into ERP implementation in the enterprises of China considering related researches both in and abroad.First, the paper points out the characteristics of ERP implementation, and analyses the status in quo and the problems in the implementation of our country's enterprise. Then, it has a relative literature review which lays a foundation for the application of SD/ST to ERP implementation projects. The review includes researches on Critical Success Factors (CSFs) of ERP implementation, the theory of System Dynamics, Systems Thinking and their application to Project Management as well. In the third chapter, the paper analyses the embodiments of CSFs listed by researchers in and abroad in the case of LENOVO ERP implementation. Based on Systems Thinking, we do research on the impacts of the CSFs in this case, and reveal how these CSFs interrelate. Then in order to catch on the ERP implementation deeply for the enterprises and the software vendors, the constraints problems are introduced from their own point of view in the fourth chapter, and the leverage points are found. After that, vendor's efforts are divided into two main activities, for project tasks and collaboration in an ERP implementation project without the participation of consultants. A System Dynamics model is founded to simulate the effect of the two parts of vendor's efforts in ERP implementation, such as project duration, trust level, unresolved problems etc. In the end, the paper discusses the instructions in the ERP implementation in China with...
