Comparison Of The Regional Integration Process Of Asean And The Eu And Asean

Regional integration is an important trend of the world economicdevelopment today. The European Union and the ASEAN are the twonoticeable regional integration organizations of the world, the developmentof which has great influence not only on the politics and economy within theregion they are in, but also on the economic development and politicalstability of the world. This thesis compares the difference of European Unionand ASEAN's integration process, drawing the conclusion that there is greatdifference between the two unions' degree of integration and economicbenefits from integration, ASEAN is still at the beginning level of economicintegration.From the comparison, the article deems that European Union andASEAN are very different in terms of integration process, ASEAN shouldtake its own way of regional integration process based on the combination ofEuropean's successful experience and membership's status.
