Between the inherent characters of large IT project, such as high level of risk and difficulty in human resource management, and the ever-growing demand of the stakeholders of the project, competencies in the large IT project management have turned out to be the decisive factor for a project to become a success. Based on hands-on experience in several large IT projects, this thesis focuses on five crucial issues concerning the IT project management. On the communication management, it points outs the fatal defects of two kinds of common communication methods (meeting and report), and also provides the relevant communication troubleshooting solutions;on the risk management, the theory of "Matrix of Risk Level of IT project" is introduced;on the issue of typical multi-culture of a virtual team in a large IT project, valid and insight analysis is made and suggestions offered;on innovation management, "Hierarchy of needs of IT project" is presented;on the role of project managers in a large IT project, the transition from traditional "project triangle" to an innovative "four elements" (with project stakeholders centered in the triangle) is explored and explained. The reader will find useful thoughts from the study and research in terms of larger IT project management.
