| Immense changes in the business environment have been caused by the rapid development of information technology (IT). The development and deployment of information systems resources (ISR) became more important to enterprises in the information era. ISR have turned into important strategic resource today. To make the best use of ISR to create value, it is important to study empirically on the relationships between ISR and firm performance (FP). The purpose of this research is to study the relationships between ISR and FP and to test the moderating effect of competitive strategy (CS). After reviewing the past literature, this dissertation concluded the harvest and localization of past research, and then developed a conceptual model involving ISR, CS and FP. By collecting data of firms in China this research tested the relationships between the three types ISR and FP, and focused on the moderating effect of CS.The principal research questions in this dissertation are: How to measure off and understand ISR? Which ISR influences FP? Whether the relationships between ISR and FP have been changed in the condition of different CS?In this dissertation, questionnaire was used as research instrument during the data collecting. We sent out altogether 228 questionnaires to firms in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Shanghai province and got back 106. During the data processing, we mainly used explorative factor analysis, clustering analysis, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression and multivariate analysis to verify hypotheses in the model. After quantitative analyses and theoretical exploration, some important results and conclusions are as below: The three IS resources are all significantly positive to FP; the relationships between ISR and FP have been changed in the condition of different CSFinally, we concluded the contribution of this dissertation on theory research and the informatization of firms, and then we discussed the objection of this dissertation and further direction of future research. |
