Manufacturing, which is the totality of all the manufacturing-related organizations, is one of the pillar industries for the country economy. It is the economical base for not only the country economy but also the social development. The level of manufacturing industry indicates a county's synthetic national power. Hence it is very important for our manufacturing enterprises to improve their production management level to gain more competition in global market. At present, many manufacturing enterprises have already realized the importance of the combination about the information stream, the logistics and the capital management. However, besides these three features, the value-added stream and the work stream which are in the deeper level should also be paid more attention. Manufacturing Execution system (MES) deliver information that enables the optimization of production activities from order launch to finished goods. It is the very system on which the value-added stream and the work stream are realized. Though it was used to be neglected, actually it is the system that bridges the manufacturing plan layer and the control layer of enterprise management system. In my thesis, firstly, I gave an overlook about the current production management situation for the scattered electronic assembly enterprises. It included the description of the spatial and time organization ways and the production features of these enterprises. Also it gave the analysis of the development trend of their production management. Then I reviewed the history of Manufacturing Execution system (MES). Also I gave detailed definition about the functionality and position of Manufacturing Execution system (MES). After that, I did the research about the existing bases for these enterprises to launch the Manufacturing Execution system (MES) for production management. Next, I summarized all the main points for an enterprise to launch the MES. These main points contained the type choosing of the MES which suits the enterprise, the adjustment of the enterprise environment, the participators and their responsibilities'assignment, the pre-launch bases setup and the hardware and software configuration which are necessary for the MES. Surely I gave some tips about the running management of the running phrase of the MES. Finally, in the following chapter, there was the description about the benefit the enterprise could gain from the adoption of the MES. In conclusion, a successful and complete enterprise management system which could drive an enterprise to keep long-term benefits and value should be a combination of the control management system, the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Without any one sub-system, the enterprise system could not have perfect management result.
