Study On Thailand 's Import Of Chinese Iron And Steel Products

As we know,the overall development level of the industry of the steel is close to the level of a "sunset industry" in the world, and it has the problem of the excess of production capacity, so the international trade competition of the industry of steel is really fierce.As a basic raw material industry, the industry of steel in Thailand has an pivotal position in the economy of the country.Through the years of development, Thailand’s steel industry has made a great difference,while there are a large part of the industry which depends on the import, particularly depends on the import of China.Bilateral trade between Thailand and China maintain a momentum of continued,healthy and stable development, especially the iron and steel industry.In the trade of iron ore and other steel products between the two countries, they can work together for mutual benefit.Based on the present situation of steel industry in Thailand, we can find that steel imports from China accounted for a substantial proportion of Thailand’s iron and steel industry development.Therefore,the research of imports of Chinese steel products is getting more and more attention by the government and corporate, and is attracting more and more scholars and technical staff to analyze and research the topic.Therefore, the paper analysis the current situation of the development and the relevant information and data about the import of the industry of the steel products from China in Thailand,and use the methods of statistical analysis and economies of scale and the trade theory.The paper also find the import problems,such as the high price and the transport costs, imperfect policy,and its influence on employment, wages, steel output, and other negative effects in Thailand, so as to put forward to the countermeasure and suggestion,such as the import alliance, import substitution, the improvement of transportation,improving trade policy, restructuring and upgrading the structure of steel industry in Thailand,and standardize the order of the price of iron ore imports, which provide certain theory reference and practice basis for the development of import of the industry of the steel products from China in Thailand.
