Since Premier Li Keqiang opening ceremony speech in 2014 Summer Davos forum and first time putting forward, ’we will encourage people to start their own business and to make innovations’, this not only attracted the international attention, but also lead a fashion of ’Maker movement’ in China. On one hand, ’Makers’ who praise highly ’Personal Manufacturing’ and ’Democratizing Innovation’, break the Fordism vertical organization of industrial production line, and make different from the post-Fordism horizontal organization and mass customization. On the other hand, ’Maker Space’ come from hacker space and maker cafe which gather a number of makers. Promoted by government, maker space becomes the first choice when startup entrepreneurs seek the office space. Thus, the research questions are what new features makers have and why they choose maker space to make their startup, and how the maker space help the startups and makers? In this study, I conducted a field study in one maker space. As an intern during the participant observation, I made depth interview with 23 founders. At the same time, I collected 110 makers’ personal information and 116 startups’ information. Analyzing these data, I first introduce the maker space and the basic profile of makers working in this space. Then I show the interaction between maker and maker, between maker and space manager, to analyze how the new organization maker space work. Finally, I answer the research question why maker prefer start their business in maker space, and how the maker space help entrepreneurs create their own business.Shared Innovation is a conception that come from this study. It indicates that startups work together in a space to share ideal, experience and problems. At the same time, it becomes a core value of co-working space to attract founders of startup joining in the exchange-of-information mechanism to help startups grow up.
