M is a specialized IT company, which engages in software engineering, system integration, technical services and marketing. As the information industry is experiencing a rapid growth and facing a fierce market competition, it has been an essential issue that how M company will plan its strategy and achieve a sustainable development.In this paper, we will discuss the macro environment of M and figure out its strategy as well as its market positioning. A PEST analysis is adopted for the macro environment analysis factoring political, economic, social and technological scopes. Also a Michael Porter five forces model will be used for the competition environment analysis. And an EFE matrix and an IFE matrix will give a SWOT analysis of the company.The SWOT analysis will give a comparison of M company’s competitive strategy alternatives embracing the consideration of strengths and core competencies. It concludes that the company should apply a strategy on differentiation competition, and proposes to establish a unified and high-qualified brand presence, as well as provides a service realizing standardization, product specialization and industrialization. It also verifies the mission, long-turn vision and strategic goals for the company.In addition, the paper also discusses the schemes of the strategic goals achievement, which contents corporate restructuring, HR management, technological innovation and corporate culture building as well.
