| The fulfillment of Private enterprises’ social responsibilities is essential both for their own development and social harmony and stability. Among the factors affecting the performance of the private corporate social responsibility,the role of private entrepreneurs as the head can not be ignored. Corporate social performance will be different due to private entrepreneurs’ different characteristics. The characteristics of private entrepreneurs will have a significant impact on corporate social performance. However, there were few studies exploring the mechanism of it, the "black box" which is connected to them with each other has not been opened.In this paper the relationship between private entrepreneurs’ characteristics and corporate social responsibility performance was explored and stakeholder salience was introduced as mediating variables to clarity the relationship between them. On the basis of the literature review, with taking senior management, corporate social responsibility, stakeholders and stakeholder concerns and other prominent theory into consideration, theoretical model constructed by the characteristics of entrepreneurs, corporate social responsibility performance and stakeholder salience was established. Shanxi private entrepreneurs were applied in this paper as samples for empirical test, of which the data-collecting was achieved through questionnaires.The study shows that characteristics of private entrepreneurs and stakeholder salience were significantly correlated with corporate social responsibility performance. Stakeholder salience has higher mediating effect on the characteristics of private entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurial characteristics of different dimensions have different influence on corporate social performance and stakeholder salience. Education, altruistic values, political ties have significant positive correlation with them at each dimension. Age is significantly correlated with each dimension except the staff stakeholder salience and responsibility performance.Finally, proposals were provided from the perspectives of private entrepreneurs’ characteristics and stakeholder salience, which will make reference for the theory and practice of private corporate social responsibility performance. |
