Performance appraisal is an important part of human resource management. In order to f ully measure the contribution that employees make to the enterprises and improve the staff motivation and tap their potential, we need to establish a sound, scientific performance eva luation system, which plays a key role in achieving corporate strategic objectives. In this p aper, a study and analysis of W company A division’s present performance appraisal system is conducted and a performance appraisal program is designed for A division of the company.Firstly, this paper discusses the background, significance, research methods, research co ntent, and research ideas and the basic framework is put forward. Secondly, performance a ppraisal theory is expounded and a comprehensive analysis of the status quo system is con ducted after taking the actual situation into consideration by the means of data analysis and discussion Council, then the problems and causes of deficiencies is pointed out. Based on t he research above, performance appraisal program design ideas is determined and by confi rming the strategic objectives of the business department and each post analysis.By using t he balanced scorecard approach, the key performance indicators for each job is designed, t he weight of index is determined, the subject and period of performance appraisal as well a s the specific content of the various aspects of the process is defined, and the implementati on guarantee of performance appraisal program is proposed. After a month of trial of the p erformance appraisal program in business department, good results are achieved and emplo yee performance has been enhanced.
