Antenna is one of the key equipments of radio system which converts the electromagnetic energy from the wireless device to the space. At the same time, the penetration of antenna technology and other technologies, is one of the characteristics of the twenty-first century. With the rapid development of high-speed integrated circuits, antenna is developing towards the direction of systems integration, multi-function, beam-controllable, modular and intelligence. As a radio system terminal equipment, modern electronic equipments put forward higher requirements for the antenna: Broadband, small size, light weight, easy to manufacture, low cost, easy integration, beam control and so on. Therefore, this study has very important significance.Based on IEEE 802.11 standards, we carry out a careful research work on the minimized printed dipole antenna which operates in the 2.4GHz applications in WLAN, and its key indicators are simulated in HFSS. First of all, in this article we discuss the antenna design trends, the development level of antenna technology at home and abroad, antenna miniaturization techniques, beam control technology for a simple explanation to confirme the significance of this article, followed by the detailed design of the antenna which is composed of six dipole elementsthere controlled by diodes, then we simulated the antenna under a variety of working conditions in the HFSS. Lastly, we made the antenna and carried a simple functional test.
