In cold winter, the roads are often covered with icing that lead to the road surface friction coefficient lower, so that the traffic travels and brake difficultly, easily leading to accidents and taking a great loss of people's lives and property. Effective removal of icing, especially bridges, highroads, airports and other important facilities'deicing, has been concerned by countries where located in the high-latitude.Microwave heating had been introduced to the road de-icing, because of ice's relatively dielectric constant and loss tangent is low and the ability of microwave absorption is weak, for the incident microwave is"transparent". Microwave direct heating the road surface through the ice and waken the binding force between the ice and the surface, then supplemented by machinery to achieve rapid de-icing.This thesis outlines the microwave de-icing and other methods'advantages and disadvantages. We produced the small microwave heating equipment based on 2.45GHz magnetron and build heating model according to three-dimensional electromagnetic microwave equations. Simulate the electric field distribution of materials by HFSS and adjust the distance between the magnetron and the sample plate and the center distance among magnetrons. We obtained the heating uniformity and strength to achieve a better balance when the distance from bottom of magnetron to sample plate was 70mm and the center distance was 180mm. The results are consistent with the simulation results and the de-icing experiments on different materials achieve well results.In order to change the uniformity and efficiency of microwave heating device, we design a kind of metamaterials structure by metal layer and dielectric layer composited. The metamaterials structure can interfere the microwave energy transmission by artificial structure and change the penetration depth of microwave heating to realize the fast and uniform heating at a specific distance. The experiments studied the relative efficiency and heating uniformity of metamaterials structure.
