Virtual reality technology integrated computer graphics, computer simulation technology, artificial intelligence, sensing technology and display technology, network parallel-treatment technology, is a simulation system of high technology generated by the computer.In the early 1970s it was used for astronauts training. Because this is a safe, effective and economical method, the training has now been extended to all walks of life in training. At present, virtual reality has been popularized to different fields and used widely. The medical application of virtual reality generally has two kinds: one is the virtual human body, also called digital body.namely, because of this doctor can understand the human body structure and functions more easily. Another is the virtual operation system, which can be used to guide the surgery.This article takes human cranial and maxillofacial organs based on 3d reconstruction by CT as the research object, discusses the basic work of making a virtual operation system. We have established a virtual operation simulation platform with basic demands (including model shows and preservation, 3d interactive, various osteotomy operations,3d measurement and etc).3d measurement is the important rely of postoperative evaluation, this paper puts forward several measure methods with clinical application meaning, like getting length of any two points on the surface of model, getting angle of modle, irregular bone length and angle measurement, etc. The cutting operation is the center of an operation system, this paper puts forward an operation mode with the lightspot of setting operation point and designing surgical path freely by the user's experience, whinch replaced original and inflexible cutting operation. This paper will introduces 3d measurement and cutting algorithm detailed in third and fourth chapter.At present China's health care industry is progressing rapidly, but there is a gap between it and western medicine, therefore, the study of virtual surgery really is very significant. The paper studied carefully on how to establishing virtual operation system and many simulation operation, and already made some preliminary results. Some problems are put in the last summary and outlook, I hope they will be improved in the future study.
