Search Term Intent Analysis And Application

With the development of science and society, Internet has become an important tool in our study and work and it is so closed to our life.As the popularity of Web application increases,the amount of information on the web grows dramatically and the information on web is updated frequently. The problem users are faced with today is no longer the lack of useful information but that of finding information pertinent to their personal needs.Traditional Information Retrieval technologies have satisfied people to some extent,but they are still suffering from low recall and precision problems.Most commercial search engines provide all-purpose service,which cannot satisfy any query from different background with different intention at different time.It is a very important research subject that how to get information we are interested in.Nowadays,more and more people are researching how to get the use's intention. A lot of natural language process,machine learning,artificial intelligence work is being applied to the task.In this paper we discuss how to get user's intention from query word and search engine's return result and how to improve retrieval result based on intention information.First, it defines user's intention.Then it introduces how to express user's intention with TopicRank algorithm and how to rank based on user's intention cluster. Finally, it gives the result of intention research system.Experiment indicates that retrieval result has been improved obviously when we add user's intention factor to the retrieval system.
