With the rapid development of science and technology, embedded technology has been deeply used in our science and technology, life and every corner of the production. For example, it has been widely used in national defense and military areas, security monitoring devices, consumer electronics, industrial automated production, intelligent control, electronic medical, network communications, aerospace and other industries. With the purpose of application, embedded technology which based on computer technology was widely combined with communication technology, network technology and other advanced techniques, and it also plays a significant role in continuous development of the community.This thesis tries to apply the embedded system technology and image process technology. Since the embedded system has powerful performance, high speed and run stably, we try to give full paly to its excellent characteristics. Choosen the embedded system as the digital image processing platform; taken digital image proceesing device as an application background, and empoldered on the basis of S3C2440 core processor which produced by Samsung Corporation..According to the characteristics of digital image processing theory, this thesis introduced the main structure of embedded system, discussed and researched from hardware to software.The fiist part is hardware; the introductions were arranged by the different functions of the different modules. The core part bases on the S3C2440 processor, and the other part consists of a variety of communication interface devices, LCD display device and so on. The second part is software, consisted by three modules which are building the structure of embedded system, designing the drivers for the image collection devices and software for digital image processing algorithms. The functional design of digital image processing platform is completed by these two parts. Hardware is the base of framework, and software is the way to realize the functional work. The modular software design brings more flexibility in many kinds of image processing algorithms. The image processing algorithms involve Orthogonal Transformation, smoothing, sharpening, edge detection, emboss and other usual algorithms. Eventually, make the digial image processing platform become miniature and convenience.
