Image inpainting plays an important role in the regions of image processing, it was widely used in patching stained pictures,advertisement and transmitting vedio pictures,etc. The paper made a deeply study of mathematical model, value realization and quality appraisal of image inpainting based on PDE.Inpainting based on structure image and texture image were discussed separately.The research of paper especially pays attention to methods of texture image inpainting. Aiming at the drawback of Criminisi's method which more preferred filling pixels along isophotes,and CIEI method which first inpainting pixels along gradient direction,an improved method was proposed in which the pixels both on the direction of isophotes and gradient were considered,that is P-M equation constrained image inpainting based on exemplar. In this paper, the P-M equation was applied to the computation of priori ties(filling orders about blocks of pixels),so, the priorities were more reliable. Examples on real images inpainting demostrate the effectiveness of inproved method. Further,discretization of numerical scheme and parameter were studied based on influence to results of inpainting.Based on the PDE and the quality evaluation system of inpainting,the paper widen the PDE's range of apply in inpainting.
