Rapid economic development has accelerated the process of urbanization, but it also has led to sustained growth of population density and urban traffic congestion, so that the construction of subway tunnels is an effective way to solve this problem. However, the ground has been disturbed and stress redistribution has caused during the construction of the tunnel, around the tunnel the buildings and underground pipelines have an adverse impact, or even cause serious damage to the structures and significant economic losses and security incidents. Therefore, it is necessary to predict ground displacement and evaluate the surrounding environment caused by tunnel excavation.In order to evaluate the surrounding environment impacted by tunnel excavation,a assessment system-ASSISC(Assessment System of Nearby Structrues Impaceted by Subway Construction)has been developed. It contains displacement calculation module,anti-analysis module,assessment of building module and assessment of pipeline module. The panel of the environment around the tunnel is displayed by the use of geographic information systems technology, and in accordance with the different functions, the base maps, buildings , pipelines and other layers which include spatial data have obtained. the property data of the various layers and other non-geometric data organized by relational database-SQLServer 2000.Delphi2007 software development platform and component-based control module-MapX were used during the development. The user can predict the ground displacement caused by tunnel excavation,and damage category of buildings and pipelines based on ground displacement.
