In the tendency that the active tracing device was more and more limited, tracing targets with passive multi-station becomes the hotspot in the recent oversea and domestic research of theory and technology. At now, the common method is adopting multi-station bearing locating method with the false locating points eliminated through the least distance method or maximum likelihood algorithm, etc. Subsequently, multi-target passive tracing is progressed. There are numerous papers and reports of this research result. In order to take full advantage of the associated information of target movement, this paper proposes a research thought which decreases the effect from the false locating points to the track updating through the data association in the tracing process. The comparison with theoretical value is progressed to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.Firstly, in order to increase the correct ratio of the track indentification of multi-station bearing locating system, through the algorithm of using the height discrepancy threshold and the simulation of multi-target track initiation under different errors of the angle observation and different height discrepancies, a empirical formulation about the relation between the height discrepancy threshold and the angle error of the observation station is acquired. Subsequently, when this formulation is used, the heuristic rule is associated to add the clustering step into the track initiation algorithm. The simulation results indicate that the proposed empirical formulation and track initiation algorithm being added clustering step can be used in the track initiation of the multi-station bearing locating system effectively.Secondly, in order to decrease the mis-association ratio of probability data association in the passive trace and the complexity of joint probability data association algorithm, the Doppler information is added into the multi-target trace data association of the multi-station bearing locating system. The simulation indicates that adding the Doppler information can apparently improve the data association performance of points—tracks. Finally, using the empirical formulation, clustering track initiation method and probability data association method with the Doppler information added to simulate the typical track, and comparing the trace result with Carmér-Rao Low Bound(CRLB) to indicate that the algorithm satisfies the expective trace precision. Simultaneously, the multi-target identification and tracing ability of the proposed multi-station bearing multi-target passive trace algorithm are tested. The sphere of application is given to provide the engineering application some reference.
