With the rapid development of communication technology, embedded computing technology and sensor technology, passive location and tracking technology using large-scale distributed sensor networks has become an important field to passive location technology. The thesis mainly discusses passive location and tracking technology using distributed asynchronous sensors based on intrasensor's time-difference-of-arrival (IS-TDOA), analyzes the localization and tracking performance using the computer simulation. Main content are as follows:1 The signal model of asynchronous sensors system is introduced, the principles of IS-TDOA localization method are expounded, based on a Gaussian noise model, maximum likelihood estimates (MLE) for the source position and displacement are obtained, a geometric explanation of the IS-TDOA localization method is present.2 The performance of the IS-TDOA location method used in asynchronous sensors system are investigated, Cramer-Rao lower bound is used for evaluating the performance, the geometric configuration of virtual sensor array for the effect of location performance is introduced, the location performance of asynchronous system compares with synchronous sensors system.3 The IS-TDOA location method is combined with the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and unscented Kalman filter (UKF) to track the source, analyzes and compares both of the tracking performance. The tracking performance is analyzed by using computer simulation.
