While the technology of atmospheric detection is improving, the way to get meteorological data is more and more, the mount of data is greater and greater, how to use these data effectively and objectively, it become a question people concerned about. With the development of picture/graphics in computer field and the effective ability of computer for dealing data, the science visualization technology can convert huge data to graphics dynamically or statically which is a powerful way for researchers to analyze data, understand data, form conception and find out the law. Currently, a little software aiming to atmosphere data can be found in our country, however, the appeared software is either functional absent or too professional. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an atmosphere visualization system which has a ability to deal with atmosphere data, obtained by observation or digital prediction computation, and to show the 3-dimension graph to make the prediction workers understand the atmosphere changes deeply in direct way.This thesis presents the theories and main techniques of the scientific visualization and has a deep study some current software to find out their defaults. Considering OpenGL traits, with MICAPS pretreatment data used by meteorological department a 3-dimension visualization system for atmosphere scale data which suit to meteorological department in home by means of giving out Delaunay triangular mesh for model and computing the normal vector.
