The construction of teaching resources is the foundation of educational information modernization. Researches in this field chiefly directed to Metadata representation, granularity of study object, rebuilding of study object and warehouse construction of teaching resources. Traditional network teaching resources are based on HTML. It has many advantages, such as excellent resource sharing, quick information issuing and low cost. But HTML marks mainly focus on the data's exterior manifestation. This has limited the information extraction. At the same time, HTML has not clearly provided an information confirmation mechanism, which may produce some nonstandard documents. This problem can be well solved in XML documents, in which the information is labeled by way of self-description.Firstly, on the basis of Shareable Course Object Reference Model(SCOM), Specialty Learning Resource Model(SLRM) is brought forward to establish a general system structural framing and a level structure description of teaching resources. Next, in order to satisfy the teaching resources in multi-level reuses and realize the resource sharing, this article proposes a metadata representation method based on specialty system in the light of such standards as Learning Object Metadata, Dublin Core , Learning Resource Metadata and CELTS-41. In this method, XML is chosen as the tool to describe the teaching resources. In the data organization, the natural semantic retrieval and its optimized process are studied by taking XML documents as integration of the memory. The main works are the Metadata representation of teaching resources, the index design, the logic and physical optimization of inquiry process as well as the Chinese word segmentation technology. This article also introduced a natural semantic retrieval based on Metadata representation method and SLRM. At the same time, ways to improve Maximum matching algorithm and Brute-Force algorithm and ways to realize non- repetition queue are discussed. Finally, according to different teaching resource scale and application environment, a comparison is made between the information issuing platform such as data grid technology, LDAP and the UBP.The method of Metadata representation and natural language retrieval of teaching resources can improve resource sharing, enhance the retrieval efficiency of network teaching resources, and be more convenient for the users.
