Image Restoration Algorithm Based On The Regional Classification Study

Digital image inpainting is a technique of repairing a missing or partially damaged image, which uses the information of no-damaged region to fill up the missing or partially damaged region in accordance with reasonable rules for a natural view.Digital image inpainting derives from restoration of artworks, and has been applied to repair ancient paintings.And with the wide spread of multimedia, it's widely used in object removal, super resolution, image compression and video error concealment.The methods of image inpainting accordance with the different principles can be classed into three types of methods for flat region, methods for structure region and methods for texture region. According to some basic principles of human visual system, we conducted a detailed analysis and discussion of existing inpainting methods, and analyze the advantages and disadvantagesHere an image inpainting technique based on region classification, which divides the damaged region into several ones by the inpainted edge, then accordance with the different characteristic, classes them into three types of structure region, texture region and fiat region, at last, method based on structure for the structure region, method based on texture region for the texture region, and a new algorithm based on adaptive excursion filer for the flat region. Experiments show: it produces comparable results and has some practical significance.
