The combination of computer technology and wireless communication skills makes mobile communication occurs anywhere. Mobile devices can access Internet anywhere and anytime. However, the information security is becoming the most important and challenging problem for wireless local area networks. And in order to resolve this problem, many standards are developed internationally. The most famous one is IEEE 802.11i, and Chinese standard WAPI is proposed recently. Both of them contain well-rounded user authentication scheme and security communication method.According to 802.11 i and WAPI standards, a multi-core security information SoC platform with high performance is proposed in this dissertation. Compared with the conventional SoC platform which is based on separated coprocessors, this architecture has great advantage on flexibility of functions, compatibility of various standards and extensibility of processing ability. It can be used in the wireless access point which needs to process a large amount of data flow.The functional division between hardware and software is very reasonable. The hardware is composed by an embedded 32-bit RISC CPU, AMBA? bus system, a series of communication interfaces and multiple security processors which can handle cryptographic calculations independently. Inside the security processor, a simple but efficient WISHBONE bus is employed to provide good scalability for new IP cores. Additionally, gated clock and OS-based dynamic power management is adopted to save the system power. All these aspects make this SoC platform very efficient for the wireless security applications.Based on SMIC 0.18μm standard CMOS technology, the proposed SoC platform achieves the goal of high-performance, low-cost and low-power. Therefore, it has a good prospective for application in mobile phones. Besides, compared with the single core architecture, it consumes less CPU resource. This feature is very valuable for other applications too.
