Visual simulation is economic, reliable, effective and safe. It becomes a hot spot in the field of military research. Tracking system used to be based on the video signal captured from experiment field that needs a large amount of image data to accurately evaluate the tracking performance, and it is very costly. Visual simulation technology is introduced in the thesis. We have designed the"Flying Targets Visual Simulation System"on our PC, using Visual C++ 6.0 as the development platform with OpenGL API. The system can simulate the whole motion process of the flying targets, which provides a more flexible method in the performance evaluation of the tracking platform.The main research contents and innovations in this thesis are as follows:1. The design proposal of the visual simulation system is profoundly analyzed, compared and verified, and the system architecture is set up.2. The virtual 3D battlefield environment is constructed. A fast generation algorithm for random 3D terrain and some highly realistic simulation methods for sky and wave are proposed, which improve the visual effect.3. Real-time dynamic modeling and rendering theory of irregular objects is profoundly studied. The suitable particle models and fast generation algorithms are proposed for different natural phenomena and special scenes, separately.4. The trajectories of the flying targets are simulated. Some key technologies such as real-time animation and collision detection are analyzed. A series of accelerated methods are proposed for reducing computational cost.5. Visual scene display, flying navigation and human-computer interaction are implemented on the basis of MFC-based system framework. The generated scene can be saved or transmitted to the tracking hardware platform.Practice shows that the visual simulation system can meet the high accuracy and reliability requirements of the tracking system. Comparing with the traditional tracking test methods, it can better fulfill the assessment tests and improve the development efficiency of the tracking equipment.
