A detailed study on 0.22THz high power gyrotron output mode converter system is carried out in this paper. Based on the theory analysis and simulation technology, the gyrotron output mode converter and multimode horn have been designed to achieve TE03-TE02-TE01-TE11-HE11 mode conversion. Main works are as follows:1. The gyrotron output mode converter TE03-TM11 has been designed. Using both the theory and numerical computation. The conversion efficiency and bandwidth for the over mode circular waveguide of periodic wall perturbation and axes bend are analysed. The results show that the conversion efficiency of TE03-TE01 is up to 98.11%, the bandwidth of the conversion efficiency over 90% is up to 6GHz. And the conversion efficiency of TE01-TM11 is up to 96.2%, the bandwidth of the conversion efficiency over 90% is up to 58GHz.2. The physical model of TE01-TE11 co-axial mode converter with dielectric loading is performed. Discontinuous waveguides create different boundary conditions and finally get different electromagnetism modes. We make strict theoretical analysis and prove the feasibility of theory. The best conversion efficiency and bandwidth for the optimum structure parameters of the mode converter is obtained by HFSS simulation code. The length of the mode converter is 8mm, much shorter than that of axes bend, but the conversion efficiency is lower, the bandwidth narrower.3. A new kind of multimode horn to transfer TE11 mode into linear polarization HE11 mode is designed dependently. The simulation results show that the multimode horn operates frequency at 0.22THz and has good radiation symmetry.
