Since American transit navigation system first run in 1964, the satellite navigation system has played non-substitutive roles in the filed of national defense and Security, meantime, it established a foundation for high-tech Militarization of national defense. The satellite navigation system has not only gotten large-scale popularization in the filed of national defense, but also gradually stepped into folk application. With the extension and popularization in the field of national defense and folk application, the satellite navigation system has gotten enormous development. Up to now, there have been GPS satellite navigation system, Galileo satellite navigation system, GLONASS satellite navigation system and our country's Plough satellite navigation system on the world. With its flying developmemt, the satellite navigation system has become space information Infrastructure of digital earth and digital cities.In this thesis, the design of 5GHz VCO integrated circuit is detailed discussed. We first introduce the basic theory of VCO, then discuss various technologies of VCO design and study phase noise theory. At last, we explicate 5GHz VCO design procedure based on Jazz 0.35um BiCMOS technology, and we also give the result of post simulation of the 5GHz VCO that has been finished. When the corner is FAST and environment temperature is -20℃, the post simulation result is followed: output frequency is 5.226GHz~6.09GHz; output phase noise is -100.4dBc/Hz~-101.9dBc/Hz when offset frequency is 100KHz; DC consumed power is 42.42mW. When the corner is NORM and environment temperature is 60℃, the post simulation result is followed: output frequency is 4.864GHz~5.762GHz; output phase noise is -99.81dBc/Hz~-100.6dBc/Hz when offset frequency is 100KHz; DC consumed power is 33.9mW. When the corner is NORM and environment temperature is 60℃, the post simulation result is followed: output frequency is 4.757GHz~5.492GHz; output phase noise is -97.54dBc/Hz~-99.81dBC/Hz when offset frequency is 100KHz; DC consumed power is 27.006mW.
