Abstract/Summary:
Relativistic Magnetron as a compact high-power microwave resource and it is expected to have applications in many fields. In recent years, the relativistic magnetron with diffraction output (MDO) has been studied rapidly. Since the attractiveness of MDO is clear due to its compact structure, good azimuthal symmetry, high breakdown resistances, stable operating modes and capability in handling high-power output, it is expected to become a promising high-power microwave source for future applications if its efficiency can be improved. In this paper, after studied the newest research of MDO, take the structure of MDO as research model, which Fuks promoted. Firstly we have researches on fundamental theories of relativistic magnetron. After simulating the model of MDO, there are some problems have been found such as the reflection in the connection between magnetron and antenna too large, and the electromagnetic field is not so symmetry in axial direction, after analyzing and simulating the structure and theories with MDO, firstly. Optimizing the structure parameters of MDO, but we can't solve the problems, then based on the theory of relativistic magnetron deeply analyzing the reasons of problems above, and promote the solution according to the problems. Combining theories of rising-sun magnetron and MDO, creatively promoting a new kind of structure called rising-sun magnetron with diffraction output finally.Rising-sun magnetron with diffraction output has not only the eminent properties of MDO, such as compact structure and high breakdown resistance and so on, but also improves the output power and the beam-to-microwave efficiency; we get the 7.35GW output power and 30.14% efficiency under the voltage of 938kV, compared to the relativistic magnetron with radial extraction, with 1.9GW output power and 12.86% efficiency under the voltage of 752kV.
