Software radio technology is sort of conception and format which is widely used in implementation of wireless communication. At first, it is mainly used in the military field; due to the effort of many companies, software radio was being started to transplant to civil area at the beginning of 21st Century. The existed interconnection method of IC chips based on bus will make the productions expensive and consume a great amount of power. The scalability is restricted as well. For the high data processing capacity needed by parallel software radio platform, traditional bus method is no longer suitable. So the concept of Network-on-Chip is introduced. The concept of Network-on-Chip takes use of the concept of Wide Area Network; the communication technology based on packet communication is used in Network-on-Chip. Network-on-Chip system possesses satisfied scalability; and it can meet the demand of high speed communication. In this thesis, the concept and framework of software radio is introduced first. The design flow, drawbacks and future of software radio is also researched. For the implementation of parallel processing platform of software radio, the concept of Network-on-Chip is also introduced. The feature, architecture, design flow of Network-on-Chip system are all researched in this thesis. In this thesis, a message passing style Network-on-Chip simulator, MSNS, developed by me is also presented. The design and simulation flow of this simulator is presented in detail. We also examined some typical applications and topologies in this thesis, including a dynamic power analysis methodology combining the information of both high level application system and data flow in the network. This method is verified in our simulator.Besides, a novel analysis method based on M/G/1 queuing model is also presented in this paper. This method is an improvement of traditional method based on M/M/1 queuing model; and it is verified in MSNS as well. All algorithms in this thesis about power consumption in Network-on-Chip system and analysis of network delay are verified in MSNS. Compared with traditional method, we may obtain a more accurate and reliable result.
