In recent years, with the rapid development of Internet's, XML has become an emerging standard for information exchanged on the World Wide Web. XML is widely used invarious industries because of its characteristies such as structural form, high interoperability,exchangibility,extensibility and so on.With the general use of XML,the security of XML datas has become more and more important such as the confidentiality of XML data, its intergrity, authenticity and non-repudiation and so on.More and more information exchanges and storages in the form of XML document because XML has a good scalability and cross-platform. XML data is a characteristic of a larger data redundancy, this will result in a waste of storage space, reduce the efficiency of query. Thus, XML data become an important research question for effective compression and query in XML database research areas.First of all, the research background of the XML compression and inquiries was reviewed at home and abroad, analyzed developments and trends that the current XML safely exchanged data. And it pointed out that the content and significance of the study. It analysed the need about compression and inquiries of XML data in the current study.Secondly, it described the fast query and compression on the XML data and expresses the query language. From three aspects of the XML-oriented storage data compression technology, the XML query-oriented data compression technology and application-specific XML-oriented data compression technology, it summarized the research overview of XML data compression technology. It discussed the current major problems and need further study the direction.Finally, it detailedly narrated XPath-oriented the implementation of the XML data stream compression and XML compression data stream safely exchanged. It designed and realizes a rapid XML-based query and compression programs in use of XML-oriented query data compression technology, put forword compressed data stream safely exchanged program on the basis of XML.It separately demonstrated the feasibility of the program , proved their efficiency and safety by experiments and examples.The data compression based XML methods was effective techniques to save data storage space in data compression technology based XML, it could improve the efficiency of XML data storaged and exchanged, save network bandwidth. The effective index of technology compressed in the base of XML data, data manipulation algorithms (especially those data manipulation algorithm needn't decompression) and effective query processing algorithm can improve the efficiency of XML data processing.Objectives not only compressed XML data, but also realized inquiry under the conditions of no decompression at the basis of data security conversion.
