This thesis discusses the particular aspects of Southern People Weekly ,which is the first figure news category magazine of China . Contents involve its clerisy inspiritual pursue and ideal in news production , its common ground and different aspects with Southern Weekly. And also how this kind of cultural connotation is presented in the processes of theme planning and story narrating .Southern People Weekly chooses disputed figures who are under the very focus of the contemporary social discussion ,providing a free platform for different voices and thinkings .It also pays highly attention to people who live in the bottom of social class . Southern People Weekly is adept in observing a figure in the angle of historical changing , to explain the nature of fact in the aspect of the complexity of human nature ,rather than political ideology.Southern People Weekly invited particular narrating matholds such as conception collection and figure list to keeping broading the ways of figure reporting form .It uses dialogues ,the points of people around the main figure ,following observation and detail-orientation to dig deeply the characteristics of a human being. There are successful cases as well as failure ones which all make it a unique case for researchingAs to the methodology ,I did statistical work to the theme and content of the cover stories of the magazine dated from the first issue to March 2008 ,totally 115 issues .During my research , I also collected and analyzed the articles concerning the news production procedures and some reflections by the chief contributors of the magazine ,as well as the journalists' memorists .
