Being one of 21st century's most important technologies, WSN (wireless sensor network) technology combines MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanism System), sensor technology, wireless communication technology, network technology, etc. It has become a brand-new data gather and process technology. However only by knowing the location can WSN technology make any sense. Therefore WSN localization technology has become one of the core technologies of the WSN. Thus this paper made WSN localization technology as the main content of it.Firstly, this paper introduced the background and status quo of WSN localization and discussed about the theory concerning WSN localization on the basis of analyzing and comparing the advanced fruit worldwide. The signal strength based localization technology is made as the main point of this paper.Secondly, a localization method based on Theory-experimentation Database was brought forward on the basis of analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the localization algorithms in existence. The Theory Database was employed in the case of obstacle area while the Experimentation Database was used in the case of obstacle-less area.At last, a low-powered, high performance, low-priced WSN localization system was designed. The localization methods mentioned above was applied in the system to get the location results. And the further task was given as well.The localization method given by this paper depressed the influence of the multi-path, non line of sight, etc to improve the localization accuracy. The localization system ran in a good condition in the real application.
